APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to all persons who, at the incorporation of this association, are engaged in the fields of Engineering Valuers and loss Assessors and these include:
MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION AND THEIR GRADES
A student member is a person who is either in possession of a University degree or a professional qualification or an equivalent thereof in the following fields:-
  1. Engineering
  2. Insurance
  3. Surveying
  4. Accountancy
  5. Agriculture
  6. Law
  7. AND those who have at least one year's experience working under a licensed Insurance Loss Assessor/Adjuster, Valuer or Investigator and must have attained at least a "Diploma in Insurance" of 'The Insurance Institute of Uganda.'

An Associate member shall be a person having the qualifications in (a) above plus not less than two further years of working experience under Valuers / assessors / Adjusters.
A member shall be a person who possesses the qualifications of an Associate member and has worked in the field for at least five years PROVIDED that a person who does not possess the above qualifications but has been exposed to the profession of Valuers / Assessors for a period of at least ten years and is a holder of a diploma or its equivalent in the appropriate field shall have his application for being a member considered.
A fellow shall be a person aged 35 years or above who has been actively involved in the field of Valuers/ ASSESSORS for more than ten years and has been a member of the Association for at least two years.
ADMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP
  • Authority to receive select and admit applicants into any grade of membership shall vest in the executive committee of the Association.
  • Any person wishing to be elected and admitted into membership of the Association or wishing to transfer from one grade to another shall apply to the executive committee on the appropriate application forms for election or transfer as the case may be and shall give such particulars concerning himself and his qualifications as the Association may prescribe.
  • The executive committee may grant, refuse or postpone the consideration of any application for election or transfer into any grade of membership without being bound to give any reason. There shall normally be a minimum period of six months between the receipt of an application and its final approval by the executive committee. The decision of the executive committee in respect of any such application shall be final.
  • No application for any grade of membership will be considered from a person not employed actively within the Engineering Valuation or Loss Assessment/adjusting.
  • A person who has been admitted to membership shall be registered as such and shall be given a certificate of membership PROVIDED that when a person ceases to be a member for any reason such person shall surrender and return the certificate to the Association which shall retain it as its property.
